It's getting hard to keep up with all these questions, and they're
getting hard. But I recall that some sources (which means I don't have
one handy) claim that the Moro comes first, and then becomes the
startle reflex. That is, they are the same reflex at different
developmental stages. I'm not saying that that is true, and wouldn't
know how or whether it's possible to verify it, only that that is what
is sometimes claimed.

And confidential to Keith Maxwell: I'v never heard it said that most
people dream in black-and-white, and I doubt very much that this is
true, as you've apparently verified for yourself. I even doubt that
it's an urban legend (if it is, it's certainly one of the less
exciting ones. Let me tell you about an urban legend...). In fact, I
suspect that the only reason that we can even conceive of dreaming in
black-and-white is that we (some of us, anyway) remember the old
black-and-white TVs. This suggests that younger generations are going
to be less likely to make this claim than senior citizens. Hey, a
testable hypothesis.
