Most of what you will find for evaluation of any weight loss method
is short term - that is did the subjects lose weight at the end of
the program? In the better studies you will find the data up to about
two to five years out and it is not encouraging. There is a problem
though in looking at weight loss methods; it is similar to smoking
cessation methods. Very few people use only one method to try to lose
weight so you have to be able to sort out the methods and their
effects. That is not that difficult on a short-term basis but it becomes
more difficult as you go out the timeline. Also remember that
liposuction is a surgical technique and has not effect on the
behaviors that caused the weight in the first place.
