Tipsizens,

A student has posted to one of my discussion boards a question about her 11
year old cousin who contracted a cardiac virus, suffered 2 heart attacks and
then a stroke (apparently related to CPR administration). She now cannot
write or recognize numbers, but still can read. The student also says "the
doctors say her (the victim's) brain forgets how to walk or talk for a minute
or two."

Although I think I have a vague general idea of the brain areas that may be
involved here, could a bio person share his or her impressions of what
specific areas may have been damaged in order to cause these particular
losses in functioning?

I thank you all as I have certainly been overtaxing this resource of late.
Have a great holiday.
