Karl made a good point about something we talked about on TIPS a while back.

On the subject tests, which are still paper and pencil administration as
far as I know, then guessing does not necessarily hurt.

On the general test (Verbal, Quant, etc) which is all computer administered
now, the adaptive nature changes the rules slightly. In this situation,
guessing might actually hurt someone's score.

At least, this is the best I've been able to sort out so far...
