Annette, you may do the darkness of December a disservice.  Consider how more 
alert you are, how your senses are turned up, how attuned you are to sound and 
touch and danger when it’s late at night and you can’t find the light switch, 
and you’re groping your way.  I think the paradox is that this light bulb month 
is the darkest.  I think darkness takes us to our deep inner self away from the 
outer distractions of light and sound.  It's like a tallis that helps you to 
make the light from within and not rely upon LEDs, neons, halogens.
