Agreed with both previous posters.  It would be odd to have broadband and no
computer, but it can be done.  Sign up for cable or DSL Internet, purchase a
wireless router, and give your TiVo a fast Internet connection without tying up
the phone line.

However, that's not very cost effective.  Broadband Internet is anywhere from
$20-60/mo.  If you live close enough to your neighbors that you get a wireless
signal you might ask them if you could use their Internet connection just for
your TiVo.  Explain to them that you won't be browsing the net, and it uses
almost no bandwidth unless you're downloading movies, etc.  They may not mind
at all (I wouldn't) and you could offer to pay them a few bucks a month.

If they're agreeable to it, I wouldn't worry about your TiVo being on their
network.  There's nothing they can get to on your TiVo, unless you give them
your Media Access Key and even then all they could do is watch shows you've
recorded with TiVo to Go on their PC.  (Somebody correct me if I'm forgetting
something.)

How many wireless networks did it detect?  From the names, can you guess which
of your neighbors they belong to?

Sure you can hook up a TiVo to broadband without a computer, but
you'll need to have broadband service. And to use that wireless
adapter you'll need a router with WiFi, or a wireless access point.
Do you have broadband? It'd be very odd to subscribe to broadband
without a computer.
