It's kind of been covered before, I'd purchased a wifi adapter for my inlaws
tivo, worked great, except that when they went on vacation, they turned off the
router... leaving tivo with no way to get home.  Some people like my folks turn
off the modem every night.

Or, you got screwed like I did.  When I got my HD box, I was responding to an
offer to transfer my lifetime service from my S1 box, I would get 12 months of
service on the old box as part of the deal.  Wonderful, I signed up.  After my
HD box was up and active, it said "account in good standing", and the S1 box
still said "lifetime service".  I called and asked and they told me after 12
months, it would transfer.  13 months later, I noticed that the old box was
still working, and that I was now paying by the month for the HD box.  I
called Tivo, and at first they gave me the run around, "that offer didn't apply
to your old box", and "we have no record of this".  I argued my point a bit,
and they took care of me in the end, but not without some stress on my part.
