I was /going/ to recommend opening your TiVo to see what make and model your
DVD burner was so that you could order a replacement yourself. But then I
decided to Google:

humax dvd replace

and got all kinds of hits. :D

Subject: [TiVo Central] Humax DVD problems...

I have the Humax Humax TiVo Series2 DRT400. Much like the one here:

http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=humax+tivo&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=9086187582454915272&ei=WcP-S9-XEsL98Aa6-djDDQ&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=4&ved=0CDAQ8wIwAw#

I LOVE it! Even though it is not HD........It is so convenient to have the
DVD burner to be able to archive a show...or pass something along to a
friend, etc.!!

I recently started having a problem with the DVD player/burner. When I
place a DVD in and close the tray, the screen says "No DVD inserted". It
appears the unit is no longer seeing the DVD burner. :-(

So, some questions....

1.) Can I send this somewhere to be repaired economically and quickly?

2.) Could it be a software issue whereby it doesn't know there is a DVD
burner there?

3.) Can I / should I replace the DVD burner myself?

>From what I understand there are no Tivo boxes now available with the built
in DVD burner.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

David
