Respectfully, as someone of absolutely no party, I interpreted the [now
redacted] message to communicate something considerably less charitably
than to suggest “I understand your decision. No hard feelings on my end.”

Written language can be ambiguous at the best of times. As I said, I claim
no party in this, being very new to the contested matter at hand.  And from
that perspective, the message as you’ve described it would suggest to
someone like myself that the considerable effort apparent in the original
email you replied to “may not deserve anything more than a cute PNG without
further context necessary”, or that is to say your message indicated a
demonstrated lack of respect for the effort demonstrated by the author.
