Yes, it's similar, but I'm not nearly as opposed to that request as

Indeed, this is Nirvana.  A new TMDA user who has never used extension
addresses will need to monitor his pending queue for some time until
all automated mailings can be diverted away from his 'bare' address
(see my previous message in this thread).

Once this happens, the only messages that hit TMDA will be spam or
messages from humans who can respond to a confirmation request if need
be.

If you use 'dated' addresses as recommended in the FAQ, those humans
should only be senders whom you've never corresponded with before, and
who have mailed you out of the blue, or replied to your 'dated'
address after it has expired.

Within this small group, how many are not going to confirm out of
spite or confusion?  In my experience, very, very few.  So, at this
point, I think you can stop browsing your pending queue on a regular
basis, as that tiny minority of messages is simply not worth it.
