OpenBSD is actually 3.5 -current.
qmail is now qmail with the netqmail patches.
What else can I try? Nothing else in my mailserver shows any other anomalies. I'd love for it to be something here, but I'm fresh out of ideas as what to try to change next.
One thing I have speculated about, but don't really have a way to test, is if this could somehow be client related. Most of my users are on windows boxes, and who knows how badly mis-configured LookOut might be. If LookOut were not closing its outgoing mail session correctly, could that cause an interaction with tmda-ofmipd and maybe cause these problems with tmda-ofmipd either stopping or continuing to grow in size until it stops?
Until I figure out what's going on whenever I see a problem being reported about tmda-ofmipd, I'm going to bring the issue up. Who knows, maybe somebody else will figure out what's going on and I can kill the kill job :-)
