Hi Janet,

It is good to hear from you and we all know about the "valley of I've had it" - It always surprises me when I learn that someone near me also has TM. And until I found this site, I felt so alone with my illness as nobody had ever heard of it.  Now look how big our TM "family" has grown.  Lots of great support.  And I agree with you - you should start a support group in your area. And you just dance the night away at the benefit dance! Keep up the good work.
Take care
Linda

Subject: [TMIC] My town

Hi to all out there.

I was in the valley of “I’ve had it” (where I am sure most if not all of you have been once in awhile) when I turned on our local radio station and low and behold there is a benefit dance tonight for a man in my town (Fort St. John, BC) who has TM and is completely paralyzed from the chest down.  He has had TM for a year.  Here I thought I was the only one in this town.  Anyway, his situation made me extremely grateful for mine – I can walk, I can work, and I can control most symptoms with medication – and I am fortunate enough to dance at his benefit dance, should I wish to.

It was an eye opener to me, and I will be contacting him.  I just read in the newsletter that there is a need for a support group in each province of Canada, and I have been contemplating starting one.  This bit of news about another TM’r has reaffirmed that perhaps that is what I should do.

A big thank you to all of you for your support and encouraging words.

Janet
