Welcome to the group Gaylon but so sorry we had to meet this way.

I had my 2nd anniversary on Jan. 5th.  My first incident with TM left me
paralyzed from the bra line down.  I was in the hospital for 4 weeks with
intense PT and OT.  I got out using a walker and able to be "hell on wheels" in
the wheelchair.  But, that only lasted 3 days, because on Jan. 31, I woke up
totally paralyzed only able to move my head and mouth.  I went back in the
hospital for another 17 days during which time I had 7 PLEX (plasma
exchanges).  Within 24 hours after the 1st PLEX, I was able to uncurl my R hand
and 3 fingers on the L.  With each treatment more and more movement & control
returned.

I now live by myself.  I am able to do the necessary things for myself, even
drive 200 (or less ) miles per month, but things I use to do that require any
strength, I have to get someone else to do. Lifting a gallon of milk is like
lifting a 50# bag.  I get extremely fatigued walking more than 20 feet.  I have
terrible back pain which normally is controlled by Cymbalta, pain meds, and a
TENS machine.  I have problems with my L arm/hand - tingling constantly,
limited feeling and control.  My R leg is my "bad" leg - spasms and banding
with spotty feeling plus a drop foot.  My L leg has no feeling but does 90% of
the work of holding me up and walking.  My R arm/hand does most of the work of
my hands.  Both hands will spasm and freeze into the fetal position, especially
when I'm cold, stressed, or tired.  I'm just one big X which really threw the
doctors at first.

Please tell us your story.

Prayers for you and yours,

Candy K.

This is a first time response to the group so I want to find out if this gets
through. I have had TM for only 6 months, and have been through an incredible
swing of events to me. I will respond more if this message makes it into the
group.
