> Hi All! Hya!
> This is the first time a post a message here, > I'm out of lurkingmode after 2 months. (Finally made the big step :) Congrats! Always glad to welcome new blood...err...new members <G>. > Let me tell a few things about me. > I'm Geert, 22 from the Netherlands. Oooh, another youngster. Cool... > The Turtles were a big part of my life back then. > They helped me through difficult situations. A lotta people on this list will say the same thing. Sounds like you've got a broad range of Turtlish interests (cartoons, movies, comics). Once again, a lot of us will say the same. Why, I remember back in the days.... Oops, slipping into "Tribal Elder" mode. (no, I'm not the eldest Elder...but I'm close. Think I'm #3 or #4 now) I go by the name Raphael (betcha couldn't have guessed that!) and, aside from being a Tribal Elder, I also serve the purpose of Official Poster of the "Rules O' The List"! I was just saying that I hadn't posted in a while and you've given me an opportunity to do so...for which I thank you. And so, since everyone was, I'm sure, bored and looking for a novel to read, I present to you now, slightly melted from the heat...the Rules O' The List! 1) If a topic begins to heat up, and/or begins to turn into a one-on-one argument/discussion, please take it to private email. Those who do not, will be given one warning, then unsubscribed from the list. After time, you will be allowed back. If this behaviour continues, further action will be taken, including permanent unsubscription and possibly going to your ISP with a complaint. REALITY CHECK: always pause before you hit that send button, go get a coffee, green tea, pop, whatever...just take a break and make sure you want to send that email. Clicking Send when you're ticked off is never a good thing. Also, it's always a REALLY good idea to make sure that the name in the "To:" field is the one you want to reply to. 2) No ONE WORD, or NO MESSAGE posts to the list. Also, no excessively large attachments (pics/sound clips, etc). Large files will only be bounced from the list. 3) On a similar line, if you are responding to another message, try to quote some of it, so people have an idea of what you're talking about. And, more importantly, watch your topics! Too many times, a topic is started on one list and carried over to the other list part way through. Not all of us are on both lists and it can get danged confusing to try to jump in the middle of a discussion. AS WELL -- There has been confusion regarding this rule. One liners ARE allowed, just don't use 'em to respond to overquoted messages. No one wants to scroll through 50 lines of quoted text, for a one line reply. No matter how many lines you use, try to make your reply stand out from the original message, if possible. 4) We respect freedom of speech, but PLEASE do not insult any character in the TMNT universe, the same goes for the various incarnations of the TMNT. Fans' emotions tend to be strong and arguments are sure to follow if something they like is being constantly slammed. This is not to say that you have to all LOVE every aspect of the TMNT world, just be constructive about your criticisms. If you dislike something, fine! (not all of us like Venus, or the cartoon, or the Image comic or *shudder* We Wish You a Turtle Christmas) This would be one boring place if we all agreed 100% of the time...but don't SLAM anything. TMNT-L is meant for fun, not slamming. This is a strong rule, and offending parties will be banned from the list AFTER ONE WARNING. 5) Once a 'situation' has been settled (no matter the means), any attempts to revive the argument should be ignored. If it persists, the offenders will be dealt with accordingly. 6) TMNT-L is an all ages list, please post accordingly. In other words, try to avoid excessive language or 'mature' comment mails. True, most of us that post regularly are 'old enough' to be able to handle this stuff, but there is always the chance that there could be 'younger' folks on the list that we don't know about (especially when you consider that most believe that the TMNT are for 'kids' *sigh*). There have been more than a few people that have commented on this rule, saying "If my parents knew what so and so had said, I'd have to get off of the list". 7) No making fun of accountants. All transgressions will be dealt with by Emerald Isle, and there are very strict penalties in place. 8) This is it...the most important rule...one that will never be removed from the list of rules, no matter what. HAVE FUN!!!!! That's what we're here for... Since it's been mentioned so much lately, I'm adding the following information to the List Rules (thank you, Krang, for digging up the info!). The link for the web archive is: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ And, if you're looking for the subscription page info: http://everest.conquertheweb.com:8080/guest/RemoteListSummary/TMNT 'k...that's it. Once again, welcome to the list, Geert, enjoy your stay and don't forget to tip the wait-staff! Raph "> (but don't tip them over...that really bothers 'em...)
