I do. I'm pretty sure that there are at least a few people depending on this behavior, and sticking with a simple "does TERM == 'screen'?" test to toggle it on... I saw this yesterday on IRC (I'm assuming it was Chris Poole, since it was the same issue, same shell), though in that particular case it was unintended (Chris is trying to prevent window renaming). Even after removing the bit that we found doing that, Chris was still having the problem (which is why he posted on the list), so perhaps the same logic is found in a different file that gets run on shell start, or something... or perhaps he didn't remove it as cleanly as he thought :) I don't know whether other people are intentionally using this screen-alike feature, but it seems rash to remove it if there are other means available... -- Micah J.
