Then you should upgrade your text editing system of choice to be able to
handle 21st century state-of-the-art plain-and-simple unicode - or shall
ignore them for their optionality?

IMHO, it belongs just there, in a comment after each entry.
The very point of my patch was to slightly improve documentation
usability by making it unnecessary to look up each character in a
unicode char table (or a FAQ entry for that matter).
