I think user id 89 is usually presumed to be vpopmail. If you have courier using vpopmail as it's authorization scheme, and vpopmail is running under a different user id, that might be the problem? I'm not sure what you'd do to resolve the issue, but maybe that would get everyone looking in the right direction?
