thanx craig, in the meantime I realized the answer to the if-modified-since question, but the auto-requesting of jsp pages that take long time happening in IExplorer still is a mistery, but it is not mission critical for me right now, I suspect that it's IExplorer 6 and some kind of misterperentation of the .jsp ending, within ie6.
