I wish I could help more, but I haven't had the need to do separate-machine Apache + Tomcat, so all I know is what's in the documentation and what's been posted to the list. I haven't tried it at all. As far as I know, you set things up according to this URL: http://www.ubeans.com/tomcat and then you just change the host parameter in workers.properties to be the fully-qualified domain name of the Tomcat host (or perhaps the IP address would be better, but then I'm not sure that Tomcat would get the host header right). Maybe this weekend I will give setting these up on different boxes a shot, if I have time. It would be an interesting experiment.
