Double check that xercesImpl.jar is deleted. For an obscur reason, Xerces 2.1.0 has been renamed xerces.jar. If you don't delete xercesImpl.jar in common/endorsed, then Xerces 2.2 is still in use.

I'm working with the Xerces guys to fix that problem and YES, I'm going to get crazy :-)

I've just tried Xerces 2.1.0 and I get the same error :(
