Unless you have set DocumentRoot for this VirtualHost to
$CATALINA_HOME/webapps/ROOT, the missing images are normal.  You aren't
telling Apache to where to find them, and are not forwarding the requests
for image files to Tomcat.

The 'examples' is much the same thing unless you specify an Alias for it.

Try setting 'forwardAll="false"' in ApacheConfig, and work from the
generated file.
