I have tomcat 4.1.18 installed on Win2K.
If I run it as a service or from the command line, setclasspath.bat is called and java.endorsed.dirs is set to %BASE_DIR%\bin;%BASE_DIR%\common\endorsed. Therefore, the overrides (xalan 2.5.1 and xerces 2.4.0) that I have in the endorsed directory get picked up. However, if I run from the start menu, java.endorsed.dirs is not set because the following is run: C:\j2sdk1.4.1_01\bin\java.exe -jar -Duser.dir="C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1" "C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Tomcat 4.1\bin\bootstrap.jar" start I realize I can modify this by hand, but I want all ways of running tomcat to be consistent out of the box.
