Did you ever try Sun Studio 12? Say, we are able to compile Boost, which is *quite * template heavy. Cant really comment on your linker question, as it might be particular filesystem/build/gcc setup issue. Never seen any substantial performance differences between Linux gld and Solaris ld on adequately setup boxes (though I admit I mostly compile with Sun Studio even on Linux). regards, Fedor.
