To answer the question more directly...

Neither "-xtarget=v8" nor "-xtarget=ultra2"
is really the right option.
You should probably be using "-xtarget=generic",
which is the default,
so it does not need to be specified explicitly.

The last Sun v8 machines were in the mid 1990's,
most ultra2 machines are from about 2002 or earlier,
though there were still a few left until about 2006.
