There is no built-in gadget with a free-form SPARQL query editor that
can be just plugged in. But all basic pieces are there, if you are
familiar with SWP.
<ui:call ui:queryString="{= ?queryString }">
can be used server-side to execute a SELECT query. Then
swa:ResultSetGrid provides a tabular view for any result set. So you'd
need to call an SWP service that takes the input from an HTML textarea
and returns a ResultSetGrid using ui:call as above.

Then I thought I might quickly at a Gadget to it that runs a sparql
select query (next to the default tree/instances/form and search).
Another issue would be how to start that app (in tbc I only start with
default app, not start with myapp…)

In the context of EVN, RDM or EDG, search forms have a button to save
a search. And a button to view and select saved search queries which
can then be ran again.
The default app is ‘read-only’, so its search form doesn’t show these
buttons.
