Personnally I don't change often this option, I always like to do a fetch (well the fetch is currently bugged :-)), and only in rare cases, I change it. In version 0.7 when the option was in the drop down button, this option was also not immediatly visible and this didn't really annoyed me. So now if I can hide it, I will probably do it. But I can understand that you prefer to always show this option.
