Nothing. Think of it this way: which did you find first; a favorite editor or a favorite VCS tool? I'd gather than nearly everybody who uses a VCS at all has had a favorite editor for a looong time. I wonder if a better solution would be something like: 1. Create a fairly comprehensive list of popular GUI editors and ship the list with TortoiseHg for the graphical editor dropdown. 2. Create a "setup wizard" that runs the first time you use TortoiseHg that asks for your username and preferred editor (and maybe a few other settings) so that it gets set up front.
