In reply to comment #4: If in /usr/share/nano/patch.nanorc you change the line that says syntax "patch" "\.(patch|diff)$" to syntax "patch" "\.(patch|diff|debdiff)$" -- that is, you add a "|debdiff" (without the quotes) -- and save the file (use sudo to edit it), do your debdiff files then get coloured the way you want?
