Definitely your best course of action is a Squeezebox Classic (aka. Squeezebox 3) secondhand. Probably cheaper than a Reciever (and MUCH cheaper than a Touch, Radio or Boom), can be configured on its own without Net::UDAP, comes with its own IR remote and, in future, if you do get a smart phone, iPhone or iPod Touch you can use one of the various smartphone Apps (iPeng on the iPhone/iPod touch) to control either player wirelessly from any room in the house using wi-fi.
