Right now I'm just using an SDHC card, but I'm rather sure that my OLD Western Digital "My Passport" USB powered drive worked fine with the Touch. Many people use USB drives with the Touch.
Most of the NEW WD drives have TWO partitions - one small one that emulates a CD, and then the main data area. This has caused problems for many people, including, I think, some Touch users. If your HP does something similar, that may be the problem.
