There is no piont in using the USB out for any other reason then that the DAC of choice works best with that or does not have anything else. Touch has perfectly good spdif, so don't exclude non USB dac's in your search for a good DAC. You miss most of the possible DAC's out there. Many have no USB or badly implemented USB (that makes spdif the better choice) There is absolutely nothing that says that you always gets the best performance by using the USB out, it more often the other way around. Some of the DAC's discussed in this tread seems to have very good USB inputs, but that alone does not guarantee that it is the best DAC for the money. So a better starting piont would be to get a good DAC that suits your taste. If that DAC happens to have USB input's then investigate this again, there soo much more to a DAC's performance than the choice of input format. -- Mnyb -------------------------------------------------------------------- Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH and assorted amps SiriuS, Classe' Primare and Dynadio speakers, Contour 4 Contour Center, and Contour 1.3SE rear ch.
