I was talking only about Squeezebox Server. That may be the case if you're talking about a library for use on different platforms. I know I've only ever gotten artwork to work with iTunes and an iPod by using embedded images, but I don't keep them in my Flac library because they're unnecessary and more difficult to manage than a simple cover.jpg in a folder.
