The most likely explanation is the change of cables which may have slightly altered the frequency response of the system (the new cables may have a flatter response and so will not emphasize "tape hiss" (which is usually in the 10kHz+ region).
Easy enough to check by reverting the cables. I'm not too familiar with the particular Copland (personally preferring the Bernstein/NYP) recording, but I see that it has a fairly high level of residual tape hiss - even the SACD version wasn't "cleaned". This hiss is "detail" in the original tape master recording - like it or not - and so should be preserved in the replay chain. So your changes must have slightly flattened/dulled the frequency response if you now find the hiss less noticeable. wi-fi/ethernet doesn't change frequency response nor do Soundcheck's "mods" - ESPECIALLY if you are using an external DAC. -- Phil Leigh You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...
