You can certainly play podcasts directly from the Touch. You need the Podcasts app for that. Go to www.mysqueezebox.com, log in, and add the app, under All Apps -> Podcast services. You can add/modify/remove the podcast feeds through that web site. However, you can add the app itself to the main menu of the Touch, and from there you can select the podcast episode you want to play.
