If I'm understanding you correctly, without your own wi-fi the path from
your iPod to your SBS would be:

Your iPod -> Neighbour's Wi-Fi -> Neighbour's DSL/cable -> His ISP ->
Your ISP -> Your DSL -> Your SBS

Ouch. Madness!

Get a cheap wi-fi access point (you already have a router) to add to
your existing ethernet. It will take some effort to set up, but believe
me it will work much better in the long run. :)
