Av=antivirus fw=firewall sorry for being lazy.

But nowdays many such programs seems to be both or some crossover ?
In general use only one firewall and one antivirus software, not both
windows own fw and some thirdparty one.

But a forum search will show you historical and newer issues with all
of them, ezet( nod32) McAffe MSE comodo norman norton I have no memory
of avast if it is easy to configure or not, most of these problems can
be solved.

Maybe anyone with recent windows and avast experience can help ?
Many old treads ends like " it was a setting in xyz thanks " without
any detailed explanation.
If someones solves a problem try to give details as these would show up
years later when someone search :)

Actually 7.6.x should be much nicer 7.5.x and older down to 6 something
used MySQL and many av softwares crashed the scanning." The old can not
write to tempfile " error solved by excluding *.MYD and *.MYI files
frommthe av software.

Check the server.log or scanner.log for errors

Try to disable the firewall and then the antivirus or both as an
experiment, if one is catius, maybe only as a local network.

Experience shows that turning of a firewall or some antivirus softwares
does not *really* turn them off ? Uninstall seems to be the only way In
some cases( and sometimes not even that, old versions norton is a
rootkit basically )
