It is if you run the server on a computer it transcodes alac and aif to
flac , the nas migth not be able to.
And nor will the Touch itself it has a very tiny cpu and not enough
memory.

And don't know why it is like this it plays 16/44.1 alac and aif
natively from USB stick but needs server transcoding for higher rates
and if you have a server alac and aif will always be transcoded.
