Do you have mp3tag or puddltag ? You can use LMS via more info on one track and view tags within LMS and see what it makes of it . Make sure that you do not have multiple tag types in your mp3files like id3v1,id3v2 at the same time if these tags have conflicting info it gives weird results. Do they an artist tag ? Or albumartist tag ? They are not appearing under Peter Gabriel or Phil Collins ?
