Could not see any sensitivity spec on the power amp thou . The preamp looks nice with adjustable gain so use that if you can . If gain could be adjusted directly that's actually better than attenuators .
If it indeed is not another kind of proplem (like msstl suggested try another source or no source ) A telltale of to much gain is if just use a small part of the volume control . Goal should be that preamp sensitivity match source and then the preamp output should match the power amp input sensitivity . Wrong gain scaling could give you a lot of noise even if products are low noise and of good specs . An amp amplifies thats a given ,but it amplifies some unwanted stuff too, the source noise and the noise of it's own input circuitry. Sadly there is no consumer standards in this regard Touch itself puts out 2v rms wich is kind of in the ballpark with many sources . But situation i amps are a lot weirder power amp sensitvity can be 0.2 up to >2 volt and some preamps can put out 10V !? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mnyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4143 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95130 _______________________________________________ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
