I have mine next to my bed too and have set the screen to off when off. The nice thing, which I am sure you know, is that if I touch the screen in the middle of the night, even thought its set to ff, it will briefly light up again dimly to show the time and then go off after a few seconds. I guess it would be perfect if the screen off mode could be set by a timer ie on auto brightness during day and off mode after 11pm or whatever you set.
