Here is a response from someone with the exact same touch -> cp-800 ->
ca-2300 -> b&w 802di (+ a too high amount on cabling).

First of all, gerardhn, I have the opinion that your posts are a bit
aggressive. This is a forum where members (mostly) constructively share
information and respond to questions of juniors like you and I. If one
that not like these discussions, nor the answers then one has the
freedom to go elsewhere. If you don't like it, then don't read it!!

Now back to the touch. Since Triode has been so friendly to share with
us his edo applet, I boxed my transporter and connected the touch
through to the usb input of the cp-800. As you know (assuming you read
it), the cp-800 white paper which can be downloaded from the Class
website, explains in detail all the effort the company made to make sure
only the 0 and 1 reach the cp-800's dac and not the noise (I read that
usb outputs from pcs, ipods, etc are very noisy ports). Because, yes,
this is what makes the difference between a touch and a linn. The 0 and
1 are the same, the noise is not. Having said that, if the cp-800 works
as advertised, there should be no problem since the delta between a
touch and a linn (a.k.a. the noise) does not bother the cp-800.

So yes, if you hear a big difference between the two input sources you
tested, then there must be more noise with one than the other. This kind
of worries me, because this would mean the cp-800 IS sensitive to noise,
which is NOT what I read.

This dispute can be discussed to death, however I advise you not to do
that. In dec/jan, there will be a cp-800 upgrade which will allow you to
ethernet connect a nas directly to your cp-800. So now you can compare
the expensive linn, with the affordable touch, with a cheap CAT6 network
cable and see who is better at transporting 0 and 1 + noise.

gerardhn, kerel, stay nice with the other members. They are only here to
help, nothing else!!
