yes, the main benefit of the SB ecosystem is to have a multiroom audio
system. You can have a single PC/NAS, etc. holding your music library
and running LMS (you do NOT need a second copy of LMS or your music).
This is connected to your Router. Then you can have many other SB
players (Touch, radio, boom, transporter, SB3, etc.) also connected back
to the same Router (either through WIFI or ethernet). Then for each of
these SB players you can play DIFFERENT things (different song on each
player) or you can synch one or more players together to play exactly
the same thing. This all works whether you are talking about your own
music, internet radio, music services (pandora, etc.)

For example, in my case, I have a single server running LMS with all my
music. And I have 4 different SB music players connected to my network
(i.e., back to the same router). On these players I can play
independent things or the same thing (i can have one SB playing one
album, another SB playing a different album, my wife can be listening to
internet radio from another SB, and someone in the bedroom can be
listening to Pandora. All at the same time. And I can control any of
the players via an app on my smart phone, tablet, or from my laptop on
the same network. All very simple and how this is designed to work.
