I have no experience with the M1. That said, even though the SBT internal DAC is good, there are lots of DACs out there that are more transparent. I use a DSPeaker Dual Core DAC/EQ in my main system, but get perfectly satisfying sound for more casual listening in the bedroom with the SBT's own DAC.
