A far a I remember, the upnp plugin allows you to use any Sbt as if it was a upnp device (media renderer). This seems to be exactly your need so finding a way to make it work on your qnap would be the best. Doing a native bridge to transform Sbt to upnp is a lot if work - I've done the opposite (integrate upnp into lms) and that was not easy
