1. Not exactly passthru. It will pass thru, but LMS will only SEND the right type file to a player if the player will handle that type file. Otherwise, it will transcode. So, for example, a SB2/3 (classic) and Boom and duet and RADIO will all handle ONLY up to 24/48 (so sending anything else to these players will require transcoding, downconverting the file). The Transporter will handle up to 24/96. The TOUCH normally only handles 24/96, but the EDO applet will allow it to receive up to 24/192. 2. Yes, see above. 3.
