I've just stumbled upon a PyUtilib project developed by USA nuclear science and national security laboratory that specializes in non-nuclear components for nuclear weapons. PyUtilib was inspired by Trac architecture that it pushed a little further. There is a whitepaper on https://software.sandia.gov/trac/pyutilib that covers this in detail. It would be interested to know if everything in this document is true considering Trac architecture (it is quite fresh, BTW - 26th of April 2010) and if some things can be improved in Trac itself.
