Yes, please feel free to post your patch to #2344 and we'll have a look. We 
can't promise to integrate the change since it may fit better as part of a 
larger rework of Trac, but we can at least take a look and possible offer 
some suggestions.

For a feature like this which may involve many changes, it would be even 
better if you worked out of an external repository, so that we can review 
logical changesets rather than a giant patch. Trac can be forked on GitHub, 
so that is one option for you.
