As far as I can tell, you're suggesting that Python should take over
and/or try to dictate to another established project.  I don't think
that's a good idea.  If you really think these things are that
important, go work with upstream, get commit access there yourself.

Who's this "we"?  I'm perfectly happy with b.p.o, I don't need it to
turn into facebook.python.org.  But feel free to go recruiting.
