I don't have a Peet 2100 but do have a Lacrosse 2310. I found that it was
susceptible to RF. Putting ferrite beads on all of the cables helped, and
indeed got rid of all of the false high readings... for a while. Some time
ago, the rain gauge started giving false readings and it's embarrassing to
say how long it has been doing it and I haven't done any troubleshooting.
It isn't used on APRS any more.

However, I have an ADS-WS1. It's also embarrassing how long it's been
sitting in my living room, but I haven't noticed any RF related problems.
I need to do the firmware update on it and get it outside... one of these
days when I have the time. I'm using a Puxing PX-777 with it.
