The 2310B loop supports up to five repeats of the Rendering Provider
Secondary Identifier.
One of the qualifiers in that REF segment is LU - Location Number.

You are correct; there is no place for Rendering Provider Address.
There are billing addresses, pay-to provider addresses and addresses where
the service was rendered.
If none of the above three addresses solves your need, then you will have to
resort to individual provider identifiers or sub-identifiers.

Hope this helps.

Subject: 837 Professional...Rendering provider address/location

We have a need to identify the address/location of the rendering provider.

In the 837, the rendering provider can be sent in the 2010AA and/or 2010AB,
under the
right circumstances. In those instances, the rendering providers address is
available.

However, if the 2310B Loop is sent for the rendering provider, there is no
corresponding N3 and N4
records to accompany the data and specity the provider's address.

In most IPA situations, the pay-to provider is the IPA organization itself.
Underneath the
IPA organizational structure are individual providers who practice at
multiple locations. The practice
location can tie to the contractual rebursement. For example, if your
contractual arrangements
were based upon geographical location, the rendering provider could have
multiple practices in
different locations.

We have ruled out the Service Facility Loop (2310D). According to the 837
documentation, this loop
is used to identify where the services were rendered. In the case of
inpatient professional services, t
this would represent the hospital facility where services were rendered.
Another example is
Dr. X going out to some business site to render care for employees.

How are other payers handling this situation without the N3 and N4 records
at the 2310B Rendering
Provider level?
